Other news, I have been very busy since November because I've been working in Helsinki, so every day I spend almost 4 hours traveling there and back. The train takes 1 hour and 10 minutes in the morning, and 1 hour in the afternoon, and walking to the station or from the other station to where I'm going takes the rest of the time.. So, I've been very tired when I actually get to be home and rarely have time to do anything related to art. (now I'm sick if you're wondering how i have time to write here)
It's nice however, to learn new stuff at work, and working on my "area of expertise" (front-end web developing).
What has been bothering me lately is that people seem to think everyone has to choose ONE thing they are going to focus on during their career. Like, at work people have asked me what my "thing" is - like I should have one web technology I have chosen to focus on. This pretty much goes against my nature, because I've always been interested in MANY THINGS, maybe even MOST THINGS. Choosing just one seems impossible!
I think you can see this also in my art in the way that I don't have just one "style" that I use or just one media. Some people seem to think it's a sign of immaturity as an artist, but I think an artist needs to have an open mind and try new things, instead of just repeating the same thing again and again. That doesn't mean I don't respect artists whose works are mostly done in one style or media though. I just think everyone's style develops and changes over time and it would be stupid to try to force it to stay the same.
